The feeling of just getting away and doing something you thoroughly enjoy is a feeling not often felt by most working adults. However, two thousand and six has been extremely wonderful to me, especially in the last few months. I have found myself doing exactly what I want and really not letting anything get in the way of it. Granted, I have upset numerous people along the way, yet, I know they probably understand. I’m simply experiencing something in life that I haven’t exactly got a grasp for in the past.
Friday evening I spoke to my buddy Jason and informed him that Saturday morning I had planned on immediately picking him up and heading to the shimmering shores of Beaver Lake, Arkansas. Fortunately, Jason enjoys spending time doing the same things I do, geeking out, toying with gadgets, and sturring up the mirky waters of local water holes. However, this trip wasn’t going to be in a mud hole, but a beautiful lake that I personally hadn’t been to in quite some time.
Jason briefly explained how he was unable to make up his mind if he wanted to go etc. After about six hours of debating and discussing the dive oppurtunity with Jason, I finally came to the conclusion that he wasn’t going to make up his mind and I would do it for him — “Jason! We are diving tomorrow, no objections!” There it was, a final agreement between us, we were to dive!
Upon waking Saturday morning I gathered the goods, an ice chest and what have you and headed to Jason’s where we proceded to load the gear. Its crazy how we filled up my entire trunk and back seat with the gear required for us to both dive comfortably and safely. Throughout the entire process of getting ready and such I was excited about finally having the oppurtunity to utilize my new diving gadget! I originally purchased a Invicta Dive Watch which was dead on arrival so I shipped it back, received a refund and purchased an invicta aqua land, eco-drive watch/computer. It is very similar to the Citizen Aqualand NX Air/Nitrox dive computer but a little more affordable. When we arrived at the lake I noticed that I forgot the watch at home! I was actually pretty upset because that was the one thing that I wanted to definately toy with.
Jason and I unpacked our gear, got suited up and started our exhausting dive schedule. It was definately wonderful to get back into the water. The last time I had been in gear was in Tampa when Nick and I visited with his mother, yet, I was diving alone, which isn’t near as exciting. Jason and I ended up taking photographs of one another and I uploaded a few of them to my flickr photostream. I’ll have more to come very soon!
If anyone would like to meet up and go diving on a weekend, as long as you’re certified, let me know. I am planning to dive at least twice a month this summer, hopefully I can go more, but I have some other commitments I need to keep up with as well.
