Nick and I decided a few months ago, upon moving into the house on Urbana, we were going to kidnap the beasts from his mother. Nick dubbed this project, “Arrival of the Beasts,” in an article on his website. Currently the beautiful Bull Mastiffs are located in Bradenton, Florida. Honestly, I am currently sitting in my Aunt’s expedition traveling along US Highway 40 headed East, along side an Arkansas Highway Police Officer on our way to Florida to pickup the dogs.

Just some footnotes, Nick and I will be updating frequently with photographs so everyone can watch our trip. I’m going to be snapping photographs and uploading them directly to my flickr photostream throughout the trip, so check it often! So far so good! We have internet access as well, so if you feel the need to interact, leave a comment and I am positive we will respond! I am tethered from the notebook to the cell phone connected through Sprint’s awesome EV-DO network! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Something Strange Updated Thursday, 8:31PM CST (-6:00GMT)

Sitting here, still mildly sick to my stomach, I can barely bring my disgusted soul to explain what weird situation I was just placed in. We stopped to fill up the truck about 46 miles outside of Memphis, Tennessee, both needing to use the restroom. Nick was a few minutes ahead of me because I was standing outside smoking a cigarette. When I reached the stall in the restroom, I noticed an older gentleman next to me using the urinal next to mine. I finished my business, as well as the old man.. only the difference is, while I immediately zipped up, he licked his fingers! Not just any lick but a lick as though he was sucking barbecue sauce off the tips. It was absolutely disgusting! I ran from the restroom, neglected to wash my hands for fear that this guy might want to lick my fingers too! How gross of a person, LICKS HIS FINGERS AFTER HE USES THE RESTROOM!

I ran outside and informed Nick. Nick thought it was gross as well and I think he threw up in his mouth.. yuck! I now have a memory, bah, a scar that I don’t think I will ever be able to heal.. sigh. I also capture Nick’s favorite sign on my flickr account. Check it out! More updates soon! By the way, if you’re viewing this, let us know.. leave a comment!

Just a bit of news - Updated Thursday, 11:02PM CST (-6:00GMT)

Well, here we are, driving somewhere deep within the heard of Mississippi! It is pitch black, humid and roughly 82 degrees F outside. We are about to make a restroom stop. Ahh crap! It is beginning to rain! Well, I better hurry, might not have enough signal on the phone to keep an internet connection. Upon our next stop where we have a full strength signal I will do another update. Half way there!

We made it - Updated Friday, 5:24PM CST (-6:00GMT)

Well we made it to Nick’s mommas house about noon today (central time). It was a long journey but we arrived, finally! We are worn out, we just spent some time at the beach and we are all about to goto dinner. I am going to actually step out for a smoke and then wake Nick up, cause he’s sleeping..

Leaving the Beach - Updated Saturday, 9:55AM CST (-6:00GMT)

We went to the beach, I got burned, we ate dinner had a drink and slept. It is time to flee the nest! We are on our way home, talk to you soon.

Mile Marker 97 - Updated Saturday, 3:39PM CST (-6:00GMT)

Passing marker 97 is a trip. It means that we have driven North through Florida, and halfway through the wonderful state of Georgia. We are listening to XM Comedy station 150, laughing hysterically! They have some absolute hilarious skits on here from some of the funniest comedians I have ever heard. Mitch Hedberg, in my opinion, is one of the funniest individuals I have ever heard. Despite his profanity, he is still hilarious. He jokes about real life, every day situations.

Alright, we are now at mile 109 and the dogs are in a light nap in the back of the Expedition. Nick and I just swapped seats and I have a moment to give this update. I found a sofa callled, “CRUNK!!!” Therefore, I bought a can, drank it, took a photo and all just to prove to Scott that, “White men can get crunk!” hah! Okay, the connection is slowing down a bit and keeps disconnecting, time to go! Update somewhere in Alabama or Mississippi.

Mississippi State Patrol: 1, Speeding Buddy: 0 - Updated Saturday, 11:03PM CST (-6:00GMT)

Well, initially I had a wonderful four paragraph statement here, informing everyone of a scenario that unfolded about one hour ago. However, knowing my retarded butt, I forgot to cache the entry and reconnect before I attempt to post. Therefore, yaddi yaddi yaddi, blah blah blah, I lost the update. Okay, so we were driving and like we were going fast — a guy in front, blah blah. I don’t feel like posting it now, crap! Seriously though, we were following this guy in a late nineties model Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix that was traveling very fast. We paced him for about a hour or so (entirely down highway 78) through Alabama into Mississippi. We traveled near or behind this guy forever it seemed when a Mississippi State Patrolmen opted to pull the guy over. We are sad now. We have no one to speed behind and take the blame. So, now that we are obiding the speed limit and such, thats it. We have gone 2330 miles from Home to Florida and now back. We should be home in about six hours I think. We are near Memphis, Tennessee.

Tulsa, Home Sweet Home.. - Updated Sunday, 1:33AM CST (-6:00GMT)

By the title above, you would probably immediately imagine that Nick and I were home, safe and sound. However, we are not. In fact we are still on I-40, traveling west through Arkansas, gradually inching closer and closer to the place we call home. The dogs are once again asleep, as I wish I was and we are still finding ourselves listening to the Comedy Station on XM. In case you’re curious, XM Comedy is on channel 150 and is definately worth a quick listen.

When we get back to Tulsa we are going to unload the stuff for the dogs and what not and probably go get the oil changed in the Expedition, Detail it and fill up the gas tank. We have driven a total of 2500 miles exactly and endured 90 something degree temperature during the day and mild eighties during the evening. So… once again — thats it!

Home Sweet Home - Updated 5:45AM CST (-6:00GMT)

We are home, mostly unpacked, dogs fed, introduced to home and yard and I am laying in bed.. sleeping for a bit before I take care of the rest of what needs to be done today. Gooooood night!
