I find it hilarious how I am pretty up to date with what is going on in the Blogosphere, but it appears as though my personal website has gone un-noticed in the eyes of those Okie bloggers. The 2006 Okie Blog Awards are open for votes and I have been reviewing my personal opinions of each nominee to determine exactly what I think fits the category in question best.
Personally, I’m extremely interested in “Best Blog Layout.” Which to me, describes exactly what area I am most passionate about.
Honestly, after you review the potential winners of this category, you’re left, immediately with six possible winners and four deadbeat blogs that I feel aren’t even deserving of a nomination — but that is just my opinion.
- 111BradStreet, a Family blog with just a general niche of the blogosphere is not really unique in my opinion. The blog carries your average two column and header layout with an oversized sidebar. I feel that the blog is a bit heavy with all sorts of miscellaneous garbage and could use a bit of tidying up. I’m not being a jerk, just stating the facts.
- Agent Bedhead, is definitely a blog worthy of winning the “Best Layout” award from OkieDokie. The site has great contrast between its three columns, especially that dividing the content from the remaining two sections of the layout. The content section seems a bit too tall for my liking and the use of graphics in the header is a bit too much. Overall, the site has a horrible way of listing entries, titles and such in the middle panel but its a great design overall. I think it has a much larger potental winning odd than the previous mentioned site.
- Euphoric Reality, plain and simple — a decent layout. Its your general blog layout and it concerns me that all of the sits submitted as nominees carry the same “average joe blow” theme. I’m not sure if Euphoric is original, althought it appears to be, though it seems like something else I’ve seen. Who knows, impressed — nope.. but it does have winner written somewhere in the invisible text.
- Tulsa Topics, its been around a while and Bobby does a marvelous job at keeping the content up to date. I believe his layout is a bit out of date and he could use some re-arranging of the overall information architecture of this website. The page seems crowded, under utilzied space and the color.. well I hate it. However, his layout is going to probably get him a win. His content is definitely worthy of reading. Of all the Tulsa Blogs I associate with, Bobby’s Tulsa Topics is my overall favorite.. Can you feel the favortism?
- Taste the World, is great! The center-weight of the content section is wonderful and although this 30 year old woman currently residing in Tulsa is moving at the end of the year. Her blog is great too. But, this is your last chance my friend — to win a Okie blog award, especially if you’re bouncing out on this wonderful place. I just used great and wonderful twice, crap!
- The Gleeson Bloglomerate, is one of those designs that I look at, immediately close window on and complain about how I can’t stand all the content just “filling” up the page without any defining seperation between sections. Hate it hate it hate it, but damnit it could win.. why do all the shitty sites win?
Personally, I think I have a great blog layout — what do you think?

I thought for sure when I started reading this post, that you were going to call me out on so very much sucking. But…thanks for the compliments, instead!
Though, no worries. I may be moving out of here for now…but I’ll come back. Oklahoma will always be home. I just need an extended vacation. :D

2I’m with you on the critique of those sites. I don’t think any of them have a stand-out design.
Yours on the other hand is very good, and the narcissistic side of me claims mine is too!

3For the record, we didn’t ask to be nominated, nor did we lobby to be nominated or voted for. We agree that there are other blogs much better than ours, but did you have to be rude about it?
We’re sorry that our blog layout offended your senses so egregiously.

4Brad,
I am curiuos how you took my statements as being rude. I initially stated what my comments were based upon. I didn’t lay blame on you — simply put.
