If you were to visit google and search terms associated with anonymous web surfing, tens of thousands of related websites will appear as a result. Most of these results are sites established for the sole purpose of creating an environment to persuade or trick users into clicking advertisements. Finding an actual service or resource for true anonymous web surfing is sometimes difficult.
For anyone wanting to surf the web anonymously there are various factors that must be looked at. First, beyond the technology there is law. Approaching the subject of anonymity users must realize that certain laws will fall into place if their activity is questioned. For example, if an individual were to setup a so-called anonymous web surfing proxy on a server operated out of Dallas, Texas. Laws in place in the state of Texas would apply, as well as various laws and policies set forth by our wonderful U.S. government.
However, if a server is operating out of a country or location that has policies in place to protect users from the various laws of privacy and data transmission, one would be more likely to utilize it. Simply put, Relakks, operating out of Sweden is probably your best bet for anonymous surfing. Sweden’s Electronic Communications Act protects users from lawsuits.
For Swedish authorities to force RELAKKS to hand over “traffic data” including your RELAKKS IP at a specific point in time, they will have to prove a case with the minimum sentence of two years imprisonment.
You subscribe to their service, which is extremely affordable, around $7.00 per month and you will receive access to their VPN. A little confused? You will be given a username and password which will allow you to authenticate with their servers. Once authorized and logged in, you will be connected to the internet through their network versus your local internet service provider. This virtual channel is called a Virtual Private Network(VPN). The client you utilize to connect to their network will re-issue your computer an IP address to use while surfing.
Now everything you do on the internet takes place via their network. Everything between your computer and their network is via an encrypted channel which prevents your local provider or intruders of any kind from sniffing or monitoring your traffic. Using encrypted channels is something I personally would recommend to everyone.
There are thousands of reasons using such a service would be great. I am not in any way promoting any illegal activities or habits, however, I am admitting that anonymously surfing the internet puts my mind at ease –

1After reading this post, I realized that I haven’t given the topic of anonymous surfing enough thought.
I’m right along with you…the thought of that would definitely put my mind at ease.

3@Melissa:
First, I appreciate you visiting the website, especially for such an aged topic as this article. However, I cannot begin to explain to you how to bypass the security restrictions that your peers have placed in between your beloved myspace and your hands.
Personally, I must respect the fact that your parents are preventing you from visiting such a horrid website. Travis(Tquizzle) and I discussed the horrible threats contained within Myspace not long ago and honestly, I would not wish to lead someone to visiting that site.
You sound youg, respect your parents wishes. I’m sure this is not what you’re wanting to read in response to your desperate attempt to have access to your favorite portal, however, its what I must do.
I will only tell you this. A few methods you could research, and perform with much work, to gain access to myspace:
All of the above mentioned methods would work but will require you to do a little home work and research to get them to work. Therefore, I don’t feel so bad, its simply educational information at this point.
As I mentioned, you seem young, so be careful.

4Hey,
Do you think it is possible to run a server (web, ftp) and using “no-ip.org” for the domain host it through Relakks VPN ? That way i could use my pc as a small web server from behind my university’s very aggressive firewall =))
Any ideas on this ?
Many Thanks,

5[…] Anonymous Proxies were first created to help those being stalked, bullied and threatened to protect themselves in yet another way. They work by disguising the user’s IP address, a number that is in theory unique to one machine. That is of course not 100% true, but would take another blog post to explain in detail. These days there are tons of free proxies that users can go to. And even Pay for Use sites. By entering in the domain of the site they want to go to, the Web Proxy reroutes all their traffic through a different IP address. When the stalker traces the user’s IP address they would find it belonged to the Proxy company or person. […]
