I tried Relakks after reading this article.

If you're thinking of doing the same, DON'T!!

Relakks refuses to provide any support and you're likely to need it.

I have signed up for a Relakks account twice. Both times I ended up needing support as the result of a billing problem.

The 2nd time I signed up for a 1 year account at a cost of $84 ($50 EUROS).

After paying (using Paypal), I was unable to login with the credentials they provided. I then noticed that when I logged into their webpage, it said that my account was "inactive" and my payment had "expired" even though there was a record that I had just paid $84 to set up the account.

I have emailed Relakks more than 3 times over the period of 2 weeks, each time waiting about 4 days for them to answer. No response.

The Relakks attitude about customer support is very apparent from their website: https://www.relakks.com/faq/qna/#6

They say they will NOT answer any emails that do not follow the exact guide defined on their website. If these people had any technical skills, they could create a support form on their website that could collect the information they want in the exact format they require, but no, they want you to put it into an email.

They also don't support OpenVPN, the standard and trusted open source VPN solution, and instead require that you use PPTP which isn't as secure.

Either way, it's a moot point for users like me who paid but never were able to login due to non-existant support from Relakks.

Relakks sucks.

[...] Anonymous Proxies were first created to help those being stalked, bullied and threatened to protect themselves in yet another way. They work by disguising the user’s IP address, a number that is in theory unique to one machine. That is of course not 100% true, but would take another blog post to explain in detail. These days there are tons of free proxies that users can go to. And even Pay for Use sites. By entering in the domain of the site they want to go to, the Web Proxy reroutes all their traffic through a different IP address. When the stalker traces the user’s IP address they would find it belonged to the Proxy company or person. [...]

Hey,
Do you think it is possible to run a server (web, ftp) and using "no-ip.org" for the domain host it through Relakks VPN ? That way i could use my pc as a small web server from behind my university's very aggressive firewall =))

Any ideas on this ?
Many Thanks,

@Melissa:

First, I appreciate you visiting the website, especially for such an aged topic as this article. However, I cannot begin to explain to you how to bypass the security restrictions that your peers have placed in between your beloved myspace and your hands.

Personally, I must respect the fact that your parents are preventing you from visiting such a horrid website. Travis(Tquizzle) and I discussed the horrible threats contained within Myspace not long ago and honestly, I would not wish to lead someone to visiting that site.

You sound youg, respect your parents wishes. I'm sure this is not what you're wanting to read in response to your desperate attempt to have access to your favorite portal, however, its what I must do.

I will only tell you this. A few methods you could research, and perform with much work, to gain access to myspace:

Tunnel your http traffic over DNS

Retrieve access to a web proxy

Find a SSL, port 443 proxy

All of the above mentioned methods would work but will require you to do a little home work and research to get them to work. Therefore, I don't feel so bad, its simply educational information at this point.

As I mentioned, you seem young, so be careful.

After reading this post, I realized that I haven't given the topic of anonymous surfing enough thought.
I'm right along with you...the thought of that would definitely put my mind at ease.
