Last night, Kimberly and I attended the John Mayer concert in Oklahoma City. The event was held at the Cox Communications Center, across the street from the beloved Ford Center. Personally, I’m a much bigger fan of the Ford center, but hey, I’m not going to complain! Josh Rouse and band opened for John Mayer, starting the show at 8:00PM sharp! This is the first concert I think I have been to that actually started right on time.

I was a little disappointed because, initially I was informed cameras were not permitted, however upon arriving, we learned cameras were allowed. If I knew this ahead of time, I would’ve packed my dSLR. Either way, the performance was great. Josh Rouse’s songs were a little weird, not sure why he wrote a song about wanting to die in a car crash in the back seat of a New York City taxi cab, but whatever floats the guys boat.

The real deal..

John Mayer, is the absolute shit. Excuse my language for one moment, but if you have not heard this man perform, he’s a riot. His lyrics are absolutely phenomenial. He jammed numerous times between sets and did not feed the crowd the typical, thank you for having me here bullshit.

John Mayer
He got off stage, guitar in hand and climbed into the crowd to answer one sixteen year old girls wish. She wanted him to be her first kiss, thats exactly what she got. WHAT OUT JESSICA! Overall, the performance by John Mayer was outstanding. He sounded great, wonderful stage presence and put on a great show. I don’t think it could have gone any better! Kimberly and I did not have the best seats, we were in section 400 which is in the back of the arena but we could see everything that was going on and we enjoyed ourselves.

I snuck in my iPod and iTalk and recorded the entire performance. I am going to be editing the audio to remove some of the audience screams and such and I’ll post the recorded portions soon. I am unsure how I am going to convert the audio from *.m4a in iTunes to .mp3 for download. I could use some software etc, but I get weird Quantised value errors and such. Who knows –
