Yesterday evening I attended a Partylite, Tealight Candle Party. Let me tell you, I was definitely not capable of just chilling with my mouth closed and my wallet wide open. Essentially, I believe that everyone who attends these parties have identical thoughts running through their heads. Let me share my take..

More history..

First, I attended this party with Kimberly, who was invited by one of my relatives. She asked me to come along; as I did gladly. If nothing else, I could keep her company and try and protect her from the swarm of consultants that potentially could attack her and steal her money! During our drive to the location this party was going down at, I expressed my opinion on direct selling companies and consultants.

Seriously now

If you were to divide the people attending one of these parties into two groups, you would have: (1) single group representing the individual(s) who will benefit and make revenue from the event (2) larger group of individuals representing the cash-cow, the mechanism in which these direct selling companies rely on.

Breaking down the cash-cow, you have specific persons in which group 1 invited to the event. Group 2 typically consists of family members, friends, co-workers, associates and the acquintances you meet through the previously mentioned types of individuals. This group loves to spend money, kidding. The poor souls of these people are resting, unbalanced, drifting between the thoughts of, “I really don’t want this garbage.” and “I am only buying this crap to make group 1 happy.. I can’t be the only person here not buying something.”

These thoughts usually lead to the effect and willingness to purchase an item that you initially had absolutely no intentions on purchasing, yet you did because you were afraid of someone getting upset or looking at you funny because you didn’t buy anything. Granted, all things known, group 1 is the only set of individuls who benefit. Everyone else is at the mercy of their greed and want. The more group 2 buys, the more group 1 benefits!

If you were to consider who makes up group 1 you have two people. Your host(ess) who is the individual “throwing” the party for “you to buy shit” and the consultant who is making money off commissions based on overall sales at said party priorly disclosed.

Personally, I think these programs are ridiculous. It is a great idea, pressure and mockery, play people as fools and persuade them to buy stuff; it really works. It really does! I ended up leaving and bought a candle holder I surely didn’t require, nor wanted, but it was the “nicest” I thought and most suitable for my application.

Application, who considers candle decorating an application, leave it to me, a geek, to come up with that one.

This is my opinion, but I cannot stand direct selling organizations. Blyth the company that owns Partylite makes a fortune off Tealight Partylite candles at parties, but you can buy identical candles and similar products through their online retailers and skip the middle man. Can you say cheaper-prices?

I’m done, just my opinion –

How about the fact that this article receives way more attention than the number of comments can represent! I currently filter out over 50% of the comments that come through on this article because of language, consultants spamming their links, and just overall poor quality.
