This service has been discussed heavily across the blogosphere for nearly too long. In fact, my good friend David signed up for an account, which means I am only two steps behind him. First, all I have to do is decide to get an account and second, actually sign up. However, as the title mentions, my mother did not raise no twitter, user! (Get it like quitter? I’m done.)

With 8+ Twitter-related articles this month,901am definitely takes the cake for Twitter tales, however, I’m still confused. Twitter has increase over 40% according to Alexa in page-reach and their user-base is growing dramatically every day. Why is this useful?

Personally, I have not read all the articles, buzz and feed items about twitter, but I can promise you this, I don’t expect to have an account with the current feature set. Honestly, Twitter just does not seem useful. You know the wonderful status setting and message implemented into your favorite instant messaging client? I know I use Gtalk, MSN, AIM, SILC, ETC and I don’t update a single one of them. In fact, MSN read, “southside: walk it out” for nearly a month or more and my Gtalk still reads “sick”, I think.

Point is, why would anyone want to spend 10 seconds updating their “status” for the public, add that up everytime you change tasks or projects and you just wasted a good amount of your day on another freaking website, for what? Are you gaining anything out of Twitter? Is there a serious social networking project at work here that I am not realizing?

Do you twitter? If so, tell me why and if not, tell me why not. I’m curious why I’m not a twitter bug — oh yeah, because I feel its pointless!

Update: I just went to the restroom, cooked chicken piccata for my girlfriend, updated my blog, trimmed my chin strap, poured a ginger-ale and gave my notebook a funny look. ..you know you love sarcasm!
