   @garrett: I have plans to, in fact I was initially, however, when I did, my tabs were broken and I was frustrated. I mainly wanted to get the theme out and get some feedback. I’m wanting to invest a great deal of time into it..

   There’s a minor glitch with the search submit button. In Firefox, when you move the mouse over the middle of the submit button image, the button can no longer be clicked.

   You can fix this by giving the #buttonsearch div a position of position:relative;

   Also, the search button image is slightly out of alignment in IE. It’s hardly noticeable though.

   It’s a great theme btw. :)

Ici, ce n’est pas agressif. Je dirais même que c’est chaleureux ! En tout cas, du très beau travail, non ? [...]

    Guys, I really apologize I have not responded any sooner than now, I have been busy moving. I just now got my computer back online and I am going to spend the greater portion of tomorrow trouble shooting a few issues with Salmon 1.0 and probably releasing a 1.1 version very soon.

    Please be patient, this was a very pre-mature release and I only did it because I knew so many people had seen a sneak preview and wanted to use it.. so its AS-IS right now.. but I’ll fix her up for you!

    Wow. I’ve looked at hundreds of Wordpress themes, and tried out dozens on a three sites I run. This is the most beautiful theme I’ve seen, and very functional too, absent the few issues that have been mentioned above.

    One RUINOUS thing though, and this is not a bug; I see it all over the web: the post text has a stacked or overlapped lines effect that makes it difficult to read at larger font sizes. I’ve seen that on way too many WP themes and CSS pages in general. I’m guessing this is caused by specifying an absolute text size rather than a proportional one, if I use the correct jargon here. Whatever the case, what it means is this: I can barely read your post when I set the browser to a type size large enough to see. Surely there are many people like me, who are not exactly blind, but who need to read at larger text size.

    The comment text doesn’t suffer from that aberration, so why not edit your CSS for the post text? I’m sure you could achieve a suitable look. Thanks, again for the super-nifty theme!

    I have deleted the error lines in the archieve.php files and everything works well. But it seems that the search function cannot work.

    First off, great theme - I’m quite busy modifying it to suit my needs so I’m eagerly looking forward to your next version of it.

    I applied the fix mentioned by Yansky in comment 8 and the search button image now works properly - thanks

    The other glitch of the search button image being slightly out of alignment in IE (7 in my case) is still something I haven’t figured out yet. Any tips from anyone out there would be greatly appreciated.

    Also, ditto on the archive.php line 43 problem.

    Re comment 32 - my search doesn’t work either. Not sure yet why. I’ve tested a few other themes with similar search coding and they seem to work fine. I might just change that around a bit…if only we would know when the next version of this theme would be appearing….

    Just kidding Justin, I know you’re moving and all. Good luck with settling in.

    Had a quick look at the search function and I’m not sure whether it was broken in the first place and it just being my setup or what, but I changed the form to:

    I thought i’d posted this already so forgive me if it is so. I’m not trying to bug anyone.

    I was just wondering what code I need to put in the footer to make the recent comments plugin work (it’s in my plugin folder) and how do I make the archives work (keep getting an error on line 16).

    If this is just something that is waiting for the next upgrade then feel free to ignore me ( i’m just wondering if i’m being a but dim and missing something obvious).

    Thanks for a great theme. I plan to use it for quite some time. It’s not often I create or use a theme and then stick with it so i’m totally chuffed with this one.

    Hi there, love the theme.

    But I am experiencing a problem with the archive/categories pages. In my error_logs I am seeing:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: akst_share_link() in /websites/foo.com/wp-content/themes/salmon/archive.php on line 43.

    I did some googling on this and it seems that a large number of other people are having this problem also.

    I found someone saying that the akst_share_link() function has been superceded/replaced by the share_this() function so I tried that, but it didn’t work.

    Any ideas sir? I would love to help but I don’t know know much about php myself!

    Hi,
    I have everything working, archives, bugs and all. I even widgetized the theme. The only thing I can not get to work is the search button. I tried tinkering around with the solutions presented here with no luck.
    Can somebody post the exact code they used to fix it alongside code they replaced so I can see what goes where?

    When all is done I can always turn over the fully widgetized, working model, with glitches removed to Justin, to do with what he will. Maybe it’ll benefit all of us.

    Does anyone know what code you need to put in the footer instead of the text “recent comments plugin required” to display your recent comments?

    I have the plugin, but I haven’t been able to successfully get it to work … am trying different codes … help anyone ??

    Hmmmmm, i’m halfway there now.

    I replaced the text “recent comments plugin required” to the code found in the Options~Recent Comments~Instructions tab in your wordpress admin:

    That’s working at least. But I’d like to display it just like Justin does, by having the post_title link, then followed by the comment_counter to show how many people have commented on that particular post.

    Hey, everyone -

    I’m modifying the Salmon theme for use with my website (http://www.evilprimate.com). I’m having trouble with something specific.

    I’d like to use a 900px wide header graphic as a background behind the entire Header/TopHeader area. I can’t seem to figure out how to do it. Is there a div to add it to, or do I need to add a div around the entire area?

    Hi,

    I fixed the search button.
    How did people get the archives to work?
    Anthony, the header can be changed by replacing Justins header with yours in the sidebar.php (bare in mind that the search button will still overlay it). OR put your logo on top of the existing one by replacing ‘wordpress title’ with your new gif/jpeg or text in the appropriate place in the sidebar.
    Any help? email me if you need more help, i’d only be to happy to lend a hand if i can.

    RE: recent comments plugin. I don’t know how Justin got the number of comments to display in the recent comments plugin but I did get it the plugin to work great in the end.

    I also have got the sidebar and footer widgetized if anyone’s interested.

    Now that WP 2.2 is out, will you be updating it to be compatible?

    I see you originally put this out in early April, and its now about 2 months later, any chance for an update soon? I see reading through the comments that users have found a few glitches for you and there are some Firefox compatibility issues and something with the archive folder.

    I am using the new wordpress and am testing out the theme. I love it a lot and want to use it.

    However, at the bottom where the links are, it is not displaying correctly. I get the link name then a new line with the number zero. I think it is not displaying the blogroll links correctly.

    Is this a known issue with the new wordpress version? Otherwise I will just take out the PHP code and use HTML to display links.

     Hi!I’m a total noob in web design and this is my first time i’ve ever created a web page.I’ve manualy installed wordpress on the server i rented and as a noob it took many hours to achieved it.After that i’ve searched for a nice cool theme for the blog and i chose the salmon theme to use as my main theme becuase i find it cool and professional.Now my questions are:
     1)Can you tell me the easiest way (and step by step) to add to the horizontal menu the pages i’ve created and how to edit the existing ones(home,archieves,contact)?
     2)How can i change the header in each page and add my own?(what format should the image be)?
     3)What is the Flickr Photostream and how can i edit it to add my own images?
     4)Why i Fatal error: Call to undefined function: akst_share_link() in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\cool-stuff.gr\httpdocs\wp-content\themes\salmon\archive.php on line 43get and how can ifix it?
     5)In the beginnig i wanted toy make categories in my blog so i added categories from my my admin panel,the problem was that i couldn’t make the categories apear in the order i wanted so i decided to make each category a different subpage to the one i want to make the front(how can i make a page to becomae the main page of the blog?)(those are the page links i want to add to the horizontal menu),is this agood layout or should i make them categories again?Will every new entry apear in the main page?If it is easyier to make the horizontal manu with the categories i would rathe choose the categories layout…
     Sorry for the big post but a total noob i have many questions on the subject,but those are the only things i want to learn for now so i can start building my blog,so as you can understand i need all the help i can get!

     hi justin - great job with this theme :) i’ve got it up and running for a website i recently made (above) and noticed that you have the next_posts_link and previous_posts_link navigation commented out in the main index template. when i uncommented it, the next and previous links show up and with the correct logic, but unfortunately page 2 (/page/2) is a replica of page 1. also the theme doesn’t seem to listen when i set the number of posts per page in wp-admin. i can set it to 2 or 10 or 100 and it always shows 5 posts per page. i’m assuming this is an archive problem but i’m not sure.

     have you tinkered any more with that navigation?

     oh! i figured it out…the query_posts call on line 1 of index.php was overriding any paging for the navigation.

     I appreciate your efford to make a such cute theme!
     I’ve looked so many themes but yours is the best of best!
     There’s some features i think you might to improve to make it get 1st theme (i always believe so!).
     +Archive does not work(But in your site, it’s terific!^^)
     +”Readmore…” should be add to salmon theme!
     +Category doesn’t work

     In my oponion, SALMON has a wonderful appearence (BEST) but it’s not good at comon features (i’m very very sorry to say that :( )

     I see everyone like themselves is unique! I have no bad idea to say: Your site is pretty beautiful and easy to use! You’re master in using color! I wish SALMON would almost like this someday.

     So, this is for the search results? But actually I can’t find the regarded code in my index.php.

     IMHO there are still these 3 issues unsolved:

     1.Search results do not display

     2. Archive page error message:
     Fatal error: Call to undefined function: akst_share_link() in /html/blog/wp-content/themes/icecreamsalmon/archive.php on line 43

     3. Prev and Next

     Maybe we can try to findsolution for these together…?

     Here is the working solution i figured out:

     1. Search results:
     Change the file header.php (in the theme folder) on line 115 from:
     input name=”search” class=”keyword”
     to:
     input name=”s” class=”keyword”
     …but leave the rest.

     2. Archive page:
     Change the file archive.php (NOT archives.php!!!) on line 43 - Delete the line that reads:
     (li)(?php akst_share_link(); ?)(/li)

     3. Prev and Next (Call to undefined function: akst_share_link()):
     Like #2 - Change the file search.php on line 41 - Delete the line that reads:
     (li)(?php akst_share_link(); ?)(/li)

     Think of round brackets () as edgy HTML brackets

     I download your theme and installed it but upon loading the page I get the following error:

     Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENDWHILE in C:\wamp\www\WORDPRESS\wp-content\themes\salmon-10\index.php on line 44

     I’ve commented that line and then it follows with other errors as well.

     I however not example sites running fine. Do I have an out of date version or is there any bug fixes I could work from to correct this.
